bullmoosedrinkingclub.com is growing.  We are getting about more hits than ever and our ranking on Google is a respectable top 5 results pretty much any way you search.  We are getting more and more emails all the time.  Don't worry we read and respond to all messages.  Most of the emails so far are related to the origins of the Bullmoose, technical questions about the rules and requests for T-Shirts.  I am going to look into getting a couple designed.

To date no one seems to have the slightest idea when it all started.  Is it related to the progressive political party started by President Theodore Roosevelt, could it be related to Benjamin Bull Moose Jackson a blues artist from the 40's and 50's, or is it more likely that a group of fun loving guys were looking for a new way to make each other drink?  My guess is the later.  I have never been able to find out if the ex-president or Bull Moose was left handed.  If anyone can shed any light on the subject please contact us.

While the origins are still in question there does seem to be a concise definition.  If anyone ever asks you what a bullmoose is now you can just send them here.

The rest of the questions have been about the rules.  It seems that the rules outlined on the Bullmoose Rules page of this site are more strict that most of what is going on out there.  Here are a couple of the variations that have been sent in:

  • ...the actual bullmoose rule is not in effect until a house member initiates it, (usually as soon as the first beer is opened)

  • we force any visitors to drink if they are at our parties and using their right hand

  • our rule is if you are caught not using the left hand you have 30 seconds to finish whatever it is you are holding

  • We play it a little different. you have to drink out of the opposite hand that you primarily use I'm left handed so I have to drink out of my right hand

  • to initiate someone every Bullmoose that's in the area has to get a full beer and chug it with the new Bullmooser to the spirit of the moose

  • Also, the only time the rule doesn't apply is if your at a bar or bowling alley or anywhere that your paying for beers cuz that gets expensive

  • It doesn't matter what your drinking when you get caught you have to kill it
